Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has signed a law banning firearms advertising that officials determine produces a public safety threat or appeals to children, militants or others who might later use the weapons illegally — opening the door for lawsuits against firearms manufacturers or distributors.

Children, militants, or others? How the hell do you group that? This seems like a catch-all for what “I don’t like”.

  • The Sandy Hook lawsuit in Connecticut proved the nature of advertisements. Remington paid $73 million to keep out of court their own testimony about who they targeted with ads and how well it worked.

They aim them at fragile males who, for example, think they might find themselves “on a mission.”

I’m not going to say this is nothing–because as the ban on tobacco and liquor advertising showed us, it’s not nothing --but is the best we can do banning firearm ads???
