I’ve got fedora and I have no idea what version it runs. Must be the same for ubuntu/mint. You just let it auto update and don’t care about it anymore
Edit: reading other comments shows that people recommend waiting. I don’t get it. Just install it now and update in a couple of days. Even if it was tomorrow, I wouldn’t wait. On fedora updates happen in the background, maybe I’m spoiled.
You’re right! You can see that in the screenshots. Thx!
How does it handle duplicate entries? How does it define duplicates?
You compare a machine that a vendor has prepared for windows to you preparing the pc for linux. It sounds like you did the setup. Alternatively, you could’ve paid someone to do that job for you. You could’ve bought a framework laptop with linux. It would work out of the box without any issues. And if there is one, you can blame framework.
Because I had issues with the distros I was using, I distro jumped. If the distro is perfect, there is little reason to jump. Ever since jumping onto fedora silverblue I don’t do anything with the OS anymore. It just works. I mainly install flatpaks. Did you try a live usb with some distros before deciding upon ubuntu studio? You chose one niche distro and to me it sounds like you judge about all distros.
A distro is just a package manager and a set of settings and apps pre selected by someone. If those settings don’t work out for you, it might be the wrong distro.
That adds an unneccessary layer of complexity to thr situation. Resizing partitions isn’t difficult or takes long.
Because there are people recommending it which is nuts
Jellyfin has no five star rating for music. Navidrome has it. As simple as that.
What do you use caddy for without domains?
Here’s a good source for nextcloud https://hub.docker.com/_/nextcloud/
You’re right, sorry! I checked it https://github.com/qdm12/gluetun-wiki/blob/main/setup/connect-a-container-to-gluetun.md#external-container-to-gluetun
The network_mode: service: gluetun looks off to me but I can’t check.
Does each one their own?
Probably anything else. A pi is a good idea.
The phones are probably still working. New battery and touchscreen and someone will be happy with it.
To the normal user it is e waste because it’s an old apple phone. It doesn’t matter how much you get for it. Just get rid of it so that someone can use it or strip it apart for its parts. And most importantly, to get it out of your sight.
Just sell them for whatever and buy proper stuff
How do you set up wol for this?
Ok, good reasons. I would’ve thougut about vacode, rstudio server, et al so that you really only have a server. I hate not having a sound card on a remote windows server
What do you need (temporary) VMs for?
Install caddy. Check that it works. Get to know what a firewall is. How it works. Forward your ports from router to the machine. (I use cockpit (preinstalled on fedora) to configure my firewall)
Use a caddyfile with the content
sub.domain.com {
reverse_proxy 192.168.178.192:8080
}
Replace 192.168.178.192 with the ip. And 8080 with the port and your domain obviously.
That’s it.
Yes, you need TLS
Which distro do you use? Those maintainers are the ones who decide what settings and apps are default in the final distro. It sounds like there is a keyboard and it’s just not yet the GNOME default.
Just like ubunru chooses to use a task bar which is not default in vanilla GNOME.
