Apple products are just so ridiculously expensive.
Android lets me have more control over how I want to use my phone and allows me to install apps from other places that are not the Google Play Store (although, the majority of my apps come from there)
Android lets me switch my operating system (I’ve been running GrapheneOS on my Pixel 6a for probably slightly over a month.
Slightly off-topic: I would love for phones to return back to the days when you could just easily pop off the back and pop out the battery and put in a new battery. I have been replacing my phone roughly every 2 years solely because of battery life. If I could just pop out the old battery and pop in a new one, I would GLADLY keep using the same phone (especially because I use the Pixel phones and the Pixel phones are great!)
Have you looked into the teracuve and fairphone smartphones? They actually allow that and are designed for you to easily replace pretty much any part of the phone
I’ve looked into Teracube, but the specs are appallingly low and the company seems pretty dead right now. Fairphone looks really good. I was going to buy a Fairphone 3 a few years ago, but refrained due to concerns about cell service and warranty, since I live in the US. Plus, they removed the headphone jack. Hopefully, they’ll bring back the headphone jack soon.
