In a preclinical study, researchers have shown how a new cancer drug was able to kill cells from all tested solid tumors while leaving healthy cells unaffected. The drug, which targets a protein previously thought “undruggable”, is now being tested in a Phase 1 clinical trial.
Hopefully the clinical trials prove fruitful. It sounds like this could be a really promising treatment, if not cure. It increases effectiveness of other cancer drugs. Even if it just allows us to reduce the side effects of chemo by using less of the drugs, that would still be a benefit.
