The primary purpose for most people is to read, reply, and comment on posts. This is a good compromise for most people. For post creation, you have other clients until it is done.
If there are more people like me, and I believe there are, former lurkers will be more active here, even posting… See my stats in my other comment. I think the lurker levels were way higher on reddit, and more of us are down for the cause here, commenting more and even posting
