Every one of these people are honest individuals who ran afoul of Orwellian, fascist policies. If policies like this existed in the 80’s, the internet itself would be considered a terrorist technology. Humanity is SO fucked.
edit: I was fairly wrong about quite a few. Dunk culture corrected me though. Great dunks, guys.
What I guess I was getting at is that some of these people built tech that is just geared toward anonymity and were arrested for it. Many also had other crimes that they committed and I honestly hadn’t read enough about.
DPR connected with Redandwhite, who was FriendlyChemist’s supplier, and wrote that “FriendlyChemist is a liability and I wouldn’t mind if he was executed.” Id. at 1822. After negotiating the logistical details of the murder, Ulbricht agreed to pay Redandwhite $150,000 in Bitcoins to kill FriendlyChemist. DPR paid Redandwhite, who later confirmed that he had received the payment and carried out the murder, and sent what appeared to be a photo of the dead victim to DPR.
Yeah dude, by all accounts it does seem that the paranoia and power went to his head.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a pioneer and a visionary for what he did, but I have yet to read any credible account that discredits his attempt at purchasing hitmen.
Assange is free. Also, many of these are not like the others. Snowden and Assange are (mostly) genuine whistleblowers, while the others are just gangsters.
We are in the worst possible timeline.
Edward Snowden
Ross Ulbricht
Julian Assange
Roman Semenov
Alexey Pertsev
Roman Storm

lmfao, Ross Ulbricht tried paying $700k+ for a hitman to kill 5 targets, get outta here.
Can anyone corroborate this allegation?

Decided to TL;DR it…
Edward Snowden is a whistleblower that is not exiled in Russia.
Ross Ulbricht is the founder of the first well-known darknet market Silk Road.
Julian Assange is one of the founders of Wikileaks, a whistleblower site.
Roman Semyonov, Alexey Pertsev and Roman Storm seems to be related to cryptocurrency laundering. Hadn’t heard of them.
I’d add:
Chelsea Manning, another whistleblower.
Aaron Swartz was accused of sharing MIT’s academic articles and committed suicide.
No way you can put all those people in the same bucket. Some of them as stated in the other comments are all but honest.
Nah
…Do some research before you ever utter people’s names in a list again.
