Detroit police said Sunday that they have found no evidence that indicates the fatal stabbing of a Detroit synagogue president this weekend was linked to antisemitism.

Police continue to investigate the death of Samantha Woll, 40, who was found stabbed outside her home Saturday morning, Detroit Police Chief James E. White said in a statement Sunday.

As I’ve argued before: She was stabbed multiple times inside her home, in a moderately densely populated area that seems like it would have lots of Ring doorbells.

If it was an attack on Jews in general, why didn’t they target an area with multiple victims? If it was a targeted attack on her, why not in a place with less people, less potential surveillance, and a better weapon? This reads more like a spur of the moment attack, a crime of passion.

It’s possible that the passion was Why are you saying that Hamas’ actions weren’t entirely justified?!. But – most women are killed by men that they know, and the majority of the killers are current or former partners of the victim.

The most important thing to remember is that the investigation is still ongoing and until it’s concluded we’re all just speculating.

Could easily be a targeted attack seeing as she was the leader of a synagogue.

Cops said she was attacked inside her home. With the current hostilities, she’s unlikely to invite a stranger inside. And again, the area is moderately densely populated, likely has a bunch of Ring doorbells, and they used a knife? If you were trying to kill someone, does that sound like the conditions you would choose to do it in?

Watch the video segment on the article till the end “no signs of forced entry or defensive wounds.” found a large Israeli flag that appeared to be untouched. This was, as others have said, someone they trusted and that they knew. And in my opinion, it’s weird that some people seemingly want it to be otherwise.

If it’s not a targeted religious attack doesn’t that at least put some kind of silver lining to an otherwise heartbreaking and unthinkable loss?

I dunno if I’d call that a silver lining. The alternative to religious violence is likely the ongoing issue of women being murdered by men who once loved them in some way. Less of an immediate indicator of a dangerous form of violence and more another body to add to a tragedy so common we consider it just normal day to day life.

Yeah, I was sort of struggling how to make anything positive out of something that is horrible regardless. Silver lining doesn’t really work the best but I struggled how to phrase it otherwise. Violence against women and the hardship they face truly is all too common, normalized, under prosecuted and a silent killer. There’s a real mental health crisis here in this country and the continual lack of funding for preventative resources is to blame for so much of that suffering.

I apologize profusely if it felt like my wording was aimed at lessening her loss and assure you that in no way had I intended it to do so.

No worries. I didn’t see this as callousness and was simply providing the perspective that the likely alternative also says a lot of bad things about the dangers to a woman in America but we’re just more used to it. A Jewish woman in America is probably currently in more danger due to being a woman than being Jewish, and that’s not saying she experiences no increased danger from being Jewish.

Maybe someone just took the opportunity of the war to kill her and get away with it. Violence against women is rising every day.

I’m not following here… Someone thought that since everyone is busy, focused on a war halfway around the world that now is the perfect opportunity to commit that woman murder they’ve been tinkering around with doing some day? Is this a whoosh moment? Am I being whooshed?

I don’t know what is sadder, a woman dying on the hands of a man she probably knows, or a woman dying because of bigotry and discrimination…

Luckily you’ve read the articles about this and know that the Governor appointed the State Police to take part in the investigation and also the FBI is taking part due to the potential implications. Are you purposely omitting that or just generally speaking from a place of ignorance?

In the original statement, it wasn’t just the police that told people not to jump to conclusions… It was also the ADL. And I’m not a big fan of the ADL, but I’m pretty sure if there was a hate crime, they wouldn’t try to cover it up.

This is a boring statement that’s going to make people think it wasn’t an anti-Semitic attack, when in reality all it means is that the killer didn’t leave some sort of sign. It’s normal not to know the motive until the killer is caught, but let’s be realistic here, I know what I’m expecting.

She was killed in her home. It’s way more likely that it was by someone she knows. If anything, that person would be taking advantage of everything going on to make it seem like it’s an anti-semitic attack to get attention off of them as the culprit.

I don’t think that’s necessarily always true. There are plenty of scenarios where investigators pretty much know the motive before they find the culprit: robberies, crimes of passion, signs of forced entry, etc. I’m not a cop but whether you an investor sees certain signs will point an investigation in one direction or another. Anchor thinking is always dangerous because it can subconsciously cause someone to discount contradictory evidence.

You’re actually expecting to this to be antisemetic?

I fully expect this to be some “mundane” domestic violence.

If it’s to scare Jews, why hide the targetting? If it’s just to kill Jews, why would they stop at one person?

It seems very improbable to be terrorism
