  • No sadly not. Krita is great for digital artists but otherwise not a good gimp replacement. I personally still have my Affinity Photo 2 copy that I bought on Windows and use it in a VM. But I have the feeling that even huge parts of the Linux community have given up on GIMP. A lot of people that I talked too rather use Photopea instead. That’s why I think investing in GIMP is pointless. It has been seen as a joke for almost two decades, that the branding will never undo the negative connection. That’s why I think people should start a new project and if they have a clear vision and appear competent, rise a crowdfunding campaign in the FOSS movement.

Like I said, the problem isn’t that they are against CoC. The problem is how they reacted to the post. Alone the last “Nice on” as an reaction to your typical idiotic “BuT WhAT If I WaNT tO Be A ToXIC CoMmUniTy” rebuttal, tells me enough about their mental maturity. So yes from that and the other responses, I call the dev an Idiot.

Tech bros and absolutely zero social competence. Name one more iconic duo.

In one particular incident, the moderators of the Discord server engaged in a harassment campaign against a transgender user, including using their moderator privileges to edit the pronouns in their username from “they/she” to “who/cares”.

What a shithole and the lead dev seems to be a fucking idiot.

  • The main problem is the lack of professional software support (+ the clusterfuck of repositories and different packet formats) and that simply nobody of the big backers wants to push for the desktop market. Canoncial gave up on it when they killed their convergence idea and the others never tried in the first place.

At least the first problem could be solved by Flatpak and the Flathub store. It’s fucking annoying when the software has Linux support but Software A only others rpm packages while software B only has deb file for Ubuntu. At least I have now Distrobox for this shit, but I really hope Flatpak will solve this shit.
