  • And even if these cruise missiles were completely undetectable, it would still fail unless the strike takes out 100% of the enemy nukes. If even one is able to survive, you risk a nuclear holocaust.

Being able to theoretically wipe our all the enemy nukes without using any of your own is strategically nice to have, but on its own it isn’t enough to negate the threat of a nuclear exchange. At best, it should make your enemy more reluctant to retaliate with a nuclear launch, assuming they realize that they aren’t getting nuked and that a launch would potentially change that.

  • I buy most of my groceries at a local employee owned chain. It’s amazing how they were able to avoid so much of the massive increase in costs that larger chains were experiencing. It’s like they had a completely different supply chain that wasn’t anywhere near as inflated. Oh sure, certain brands seemed to be going way up in price, but other items from competing brands didn’t. Meanwhile at Walmart, everything went way up in price, and at a much faster pace. Weird how that works.

I guess the giant monopolies must not have the resources and experience required to run an efficient business. How else can you explain the disparity?

  • Redoing the election only takes pressure off Maduro. It’s an empty gesture to appease the opposition for a time, which just gives Maduro room to plan for stealing the next election. And it drags things out for longer, which can easily cause some of the energy to be drained from his opposition, because movements like this tend to fade out after a while.

And what could possibly be the point? If he won’t concede this time, next time won’t be any different.

Better to keep putting as much pressure as possible on Maduro and his regime. No reason to make hanging on to power any easier for him, and even if he can’t be convinced to bow out gracefully, if things get bad enough for him, the decision might not be his to make.

  • There are no EV mandates. The article presents Trump’s statements about repealing an EV mandate that doesn’t exist without ever noting that no such mandate exists.

Without seeing video of the statements it’s hard to say how much that was Trump selling policy for donations and saying the quiet part out loud vs just making a joke. But either way, I’m pretty sure it’s based on a flawed premise because at this point I don’t think Elon gives a shit about electric cars either.

And finally, the talk about the cost of charging infrastructure is framing the issue in the stupidest way possible. How much did it cost to build infrastructure for ICE vehicles, to have gas stations all over the place and a supply chain to keep them running? A hell of lot more than it will take to add charging infrastructure, that’s for sure. But we don’t talk about that cost because no single entity paid for it all, and those that did mostly did so as an investment, which generally paid off. People will pay for public chargers. We don’t need public funds to cover everything, they just help get the investments rolling in faster.

What we do need is a rule forcing apartments to add charging of some kind to all residential parking. Even a standard wall outlet for each space would be enough to solve the majority of the charging problem.

  • Remember, this is the same guy trying to sue to the National Labor Relations Board out of existence, because things like workplace safety and overtime pay and not having racist workplaces are inefficient.

This is a guy who was willing to compromise workplace safety simply because he doesn’t like high vis colors. Who fired an entire department that was in the middle of work that’s critical to the future of the company, simply because he was upset that their boss tried to argue that they shouldn’t gut the team arbitrarily.

Efficiency I can understand, it’s a rational priority to pursue. Elon is a mentally unstable weirdo who either doesn’t care how much damage he does to the business, or is so disconnected from reality that he can’t really understand what he’s doing.

He’s not just a typical corporate scumbag doing greedy things. He’s basically an aspiring Bioshock villain. If he was half as competing as he thinks he is, he’d be ruling a dystopian nightmare city on Mars by now.
