I remember seeing an analysis that said the reason nothing sticks to Trump is that there’s just so many negative stories that none of them really gain traction. There’s nothing simple like “But her emails!!!” To get anyone riled up.

The comments are all assuming that it’s the same people that are viewing this content and promoting hatred. It may not be - even the reddest areas still have 30%+ blue voters (and vice-versa). Although the implications of that would be equally noteworthy and confusing.
They each have their own protection detail. Each will quickly move to protect the one they are responsible for, which will mean separating them (probably by a lot of distance).
Someone under SS protection can choose to waive it. There are some former presidents who deemed it unnecessary later in life.
No idea about the rest of your hypothetical
Often there are contracts. Sometimes for a very long time, often multi-year. There are sometimes escape clauses (like a morality clause for a spokesperson), but these aren’t easy to invoke.
I suspect many of them are up for annual review/renewal, when they can be terminated without penalty. It might also just be an attempt to get better terms.
Uber’s insurance is pretty bad. Many get the additional coverage from their regular insurer anyway because of this. That coverage also (usually) applies to this situation as well.
Remember: No actual doctors are involved in executions. It is exactly that scenario that is forbidden by the Hippocratic oath.
When the state is making any claims about medical concerns, it is NOT coming from a doctor.
Just when trying to guess someone’s age (we’ll assume completely family-friendly and above board), think back to high school. How old did you and your peers look? Now go take a look at high schoolers today. They probably seem a lot younger than you did. The longer it’s been (i.e. the older you are), the younger they look. Which means, “when I see it” depends entirely on the age of the viewer.
This isn’t even just about perception and memory- modern style is based on/influenced heavily by youth. It’s also continuing to move in the direction. This is why actors in their 30s - with carefully managed hair, skin, makeup, and wardrobe - have been able to convincingly portray high schoolers. This means that it’s not just you - teens really are looking younger each year. But they’re still the same age.
This creates a significant legal issue - AI generated images have no age, nor is there consent.
The difference in appearance between age 16 and 18 is minimal, but the legal difference is immense. This is based entirely on a concept that cannot apply.
How do you define what’s depicting a fictional child? Especially without including real adults? I’ve met people who believe that preferring a shaved pubic area is pedophilia. This is even though the vast majority of adult women do so. On the flip side, teenagers from the 70s and 80s would be mistaken for 40+ today.
Even the extremes aren’t clear. Adult star “Little Lupe”, who was 18+ in every single appearance, lacked most secondary sex characteristics. Experts testified in court that she could not possibly be an adult. Except she was, and there’s full documentation to prove it. Would AI trained exclusively on her work be producing CSAM?
If the locals - as a whole, not just some prominent extremists - dislike Starbucks being there, then the location will fail.
“handle” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. The signs are already there that all of these edge cases will just be programmed as “safely pull over and stop until conditions change or a human takes control”. Which isn’t a small task in itself, but it’s a lot easier than figuring out to continue (e.g.) on ice.
Republicans have already blamed (credited?) Taylor Swift for election losses, simply because she told people to vote. Not for telling people vote for/against any particular issue, candidate, or office. Just to go vote.
She has immense power, but that power may not be easy to control.
He’s even stated as much, just not recently. It was about his tax cuts for the rich, and how she would have to love him for all the money he sent her way.
It makes sense, given that he’s never known a love that he hasn’t had to pay for.
Even at stores that have this feature, I rarely see people use it. It’s clearly not an experience that people flock to.
OTOH, on the rare occasion I’ve visited a Walmart in the past 10 years, I have a 100% rate of checkout taking an absurdly long time. Everyone there just seems to accept it like they have no choice.
As long as it’s advertised openly, I don’t see a big problem with it. It would probably be sold as a discount for shopping at slower times, though. It’s a tried-and-true method of smoothing congestion.
Assuming a store with 9a-9p hours (every day), a 9-5 worker can shop 44 hours in a week, vs 40 they cannot. But that doesn’t particularly line up with the busy hours. Around here, after 7 on weekdays and 5 on weekends tend to get pretty slow.
There are many reasons to avoid Tesla, regardless of Musk. The complete lack of independent repair was my deal breaker, but you’ll find your own. Their competition is looking pretty good these days, too.
It’s based on an ex post facto law, which is expressly forbidden by the constitution. I don’t like the results in this case, but it’s a stronger argument than most people have when petitioning SCOTUS.
It would vacate his conviction and get him out of prison. His life after may not be great, but he still has money.
As for his future career, people tend to forget/ignore all of that anyway. Chris Brown savagely beat Rihanna nearly to death, and he still has no problems booking a tour. But even if it was still a thing, he’d just say (accurately, mind you) that it was all just a plan by his lawyers. It was the most effective way of getting him out of prison, and clearing his record.
Pretty much, yeah. The big thing is that they wouldn’t have access to the candidates’ strategy. But most of that is pretty public. We already know a few of Harris’ talking points. We also know some of the things they will steer away from. What we don’t know is if there are any planned pivots later on, like an October Surprise
Will this help users on Bing with their number 1 desired search destination, Google?
Or their 7th most common destination, Bing?
I almost included that exact clip, but felt like it was too off topic. Glad that I’m not alone on thinking that
