And leverage against fair taxation.
Experimental musician. https://odysee.com/@thetiredhorizon:f https://thetiredhorizon.bandcamp.com/ …also the usual Soundcloud, evil-Spotify and Apple… on Mastodon…
And leverage against fair taxation.
That’s a fair assessment. I kind of feel the same, he’s conflicted on some subjects, hypocritical on others. We live in a world where money controls tech and advancement so naturally people assume those at the top must know what they’re talking about. Musk kind of proves that’s folly, at least.
silviculture
Oh thats possible, to a degree…
The problem is the vast billions of extra tons of CO2 that far outscales the surface area available. Obviously we should repopulate the earth with trees, it helps biodiversity and will trap some carbon. But we need multiple ways to attack this.
Thanks! Yeah controlling vaccines to profit off them is pretty brutal.
Thanks! Had a quick scan and yeah thats pretty shitty.
I dont think that covid patent thing is true as the one of the UK parliamentary committees investigated and say they found no evidence. Have you a couple of sources?
Musician here…
…I tell people to download both the mp3 and the wavefiles from Bandcamp. Sometimes Soundcloud has a download option (depends on the artist). I still buy CDs where I can.
I was telling people to try music on spotify and youtube, and then buy it on bandcamp etc. Download a copy. There sometimes comes a time when labels crumble, or streaming sites go bankrupt.
I suppose I’m a “content creator”. I write music.
I WISH all my recording gear was free. Fucking hell. The amount of money I’ve wasted in the last 30 years… sheesh.
Who have stolen land, drilled under people’s own land to access their oil, drilled into other countries without permission (eg Russian firms). They’ve also hidden data about environmental damage since the 1960s including CO2 evidence. Worse than tobacco.
Yeah there are problems with battery and EV materials and their links to all kinds of nasty things. However, lets not forget how bad other industries have been (even recently) for slavery… the cotton industry, the soft drinks indusrty, even the plastics recycling industry.
And OK, lithium is a problem, but there are other ways to store energy that arent being used. We need to stop expecting a perfect solution to everything and just start using sand batteries, compressed air etc, things where we do already have engineers that can accomplish something.
The Far Side also did a comic on this where the old gal was stuffing her turkey (with sage). 😂
I remember being there in 2013 and the rivers and streams were all dried up. They were quite worried about farming.
Its how you use it. 😉
I have a small unit too, but we’re the rare ones. “Nobody” means “majority” here or do I really have to be literal wth everyone on the internet???
Perfect place for it too. All those grapes will be sour.
There was a powercut this week in a large part of Mexico (I know because of family from there). They’re getting rarer now as Mexico has really tried to get its grid uptogether. The downside of countries like this having more stable grids is more people and business installing aircon systems, which just means more energy used, more emissions.
The funny thing is there are ways to passively cool areas. You can literally install shading over windows and walls that face the main sun. Last year in the UK we had a few days where it was over 35C. Nobody here has aircon. So that heat is a shock to us. But I managed to cover the outside of open windows with reflective bubble wrap insulation cut into sheets.
I also installed a small solar system on our shed to run a fridge freezer out there. The funny thing is the half inch stand-offs actively created significant shading and the inside of the shed really cooled down to where we could sit in there and chill out or do tasks without melting. When I realised this I started looking online for research on solar power and shading and found agrovoltaics. Solar panels over farm crops such as fruit in hotter regions mean less watering needed… its more spread out than usual solar farms as it has to let the sun in a bit more to the food but its something that needs to be done more.
I also read of people ignoring their energy policy for their home electric and installing grid-tie solar. They use sheds, stands in their garden, conservatory roofing etc, and usually just a few hundred watts of solar. Typically homes have a fuse rating of 30-50 amps. One 300w solar panel grid tied is not going to be anywhere near that, but will mean up to 300w of clean energy. Energy companies should just allow these systems, even provide them if its a problem or worry to them. You can buy this stuff off amazon for a few hundred quid.
Thats exactly what people like myself were misled into beleiving when Cameron uttered the very same in 2010.
