If you can swing it, keep the old PC parts around and put Linux on the old stuff and build up confidence there. I used synergy to move my mouse between windows and Linux and slowly got to the point I felt good enough to jump all in.

Reading the GitHub page for pythonz makes it seem a little easier to get into than pyenv. I think that might just be documentation learning curve though. Have you tried both?

I fully agree with the prioritization of meeting basic needs before luxury. Even heavy gamers are getting a much better experience on Linux these days (yay Proton!). There are a couple of anti-cheat systems that are still trouble some, but honestly if the developers don’t want to to put in the much smaller amount of effort to make it work on Linux, I don’t want to give them my money.

No clue what you’re talking about. I’ve got an SMA connector on the back of my TV. The did government subsidized conversation boxes. It worked about the same as a VCR. Tune the TV to a specific channel and then use the convertor as the tuner. That by no means caused TVs no to longer than SMA connectors. That was due to TV manufacturers also having their fingers in streaming services. Gotta love that vertical integration!
