Stoked. I missed playing MGS3 when it first came out and am glad to hear this remake is exactly like the original because I hear it was arguably the best in the series.

That’s refreshing to see in a world of ever increasing enshittification. Wish more companies move in this direction.
All the video games magazines would do an E3 issue and I remember binging on all the game announcements and event photos. Good times
Use libro.fm instead and part of your subscription goes to an independent bookstore of your choosing
This is what I try to tell people who just want the cheapest things possible. We’re voting with our dollars what kind of world we want.
Also, shipping things across the sea burns some of the worst fuel for the environment so I’d rather buy things made here and support the local economy whenever possible.
MSFT has a $3T market cap and $60B of free cash flow each year, so I doubt they’re hurting for money. This is how “growth at all costs” incentivizes myopic decision-making and doesn’t really help foster an environment where studios are willing to take creative risks. Even when they succeed (a la Hi-Fi Rush) they’re on the perpetual chopping block.
“The layoffs will continue until morale improves”
$6.4B for HashiCorp on the heels of $4.6B for Apptio and $34B for Red Hat back in 2018. I wonder how long until they expect each of these acquisitions to be accretive?
Recently moved over to porkbun after dealing with a couple billing issues with namecheap and not getting the best customer service. Been pretty happy so far.
They also recently won a deal with Rakuten Mobile to supply RAN equipment in Japan
The music alone is 🔥
100%. Seems like phones continually get worse under the guise of “progress”. No more headphone jack or removable battery, more bloated software, anti-privacy assistants/AI. Switched to a Sony Xperia for the headphone jack alone and it’s been great, I hope they don’t follow this AI trend or else I’m out.
That’s awesome. Loved JSRF, used to play it just for the soundtrack
As someone who spends a lot of time in coffee shops (working, reading studying), the library is a nice change of scenery and you don’t have to buy anything to justify taking up space. A lot of libraries are stunning too.
Also they get you access to audiobooks which are a great alternative to paid subscriptions. I do have a libro.fm account though to support my local indie bookstore.
The one dealership that didn’t have a markup near us sold out immediately and we ended paying a slight markup at another place, but after all the incentives and trade-in it was a steal.
We love our EUV, I don’t think I’ll go back to an ICE car after seeing how convenient home charging is and one-pedal driving is great.
That’s a bummer. Was interested to see what a Honda EV with ultium cells would be like. A sub-$30k EV is what a lot of people are looking for, judging from my experience buying a Bolt. Hope they can figure out the unit-economics
Years ago I bought an insulated coffee cup and water bottle (klean kanteen) that get used every week, especially if I travel. When I get iced coffee and I can walk around sipping it and there’s still ice floating around hours later. Plus I can avoid single-use plastic cups if the coffee shop fills personal ones (some even give a discount!). The water bottle has saved me from having to buy overpriced bottled water dozens of times over.
Another one is my bike. I bought a used Marin Muirwoods commuter bike from a local co-op and it’s saved from having to drive to any place less than a few miles away, like the gym. Less gas burned and wear & tear on my car. Plus it’s fun cruising around and is great exercise.
Silent wind of doom is a nice callback. A Muscular Beaver attack would’ve been funny too
Terrible. Getting caught up in a geopolitical fight while you’re just trying to eke out a living. Hope their families find peace.
The area has witnessed increasingly frequent run-ins between Philippine vessels and tiny wooden fishing boats against much larger Chinese coast guard ships and what Manila says are shadowy Chinese “maritime militia” fishing vessels.
Wooden fishing boats vs. steel hull ships tells you everything about who’s the aggressor. Hope they find a resolution.
Same, the physical camera button and 3.5mm headphone jack on the Xperia are awesome
