Imo, paying a small extra for the device makes sense because it’s not a huge company, and the r&d must be expensive.

I only install UBO and never configure it, so perhaps UBOL will be fine
I installed this other one https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ad-accelerator/gpboiedfklodfhngobidfjecdpmccehg?hl=en because this one seems to the FOSS.
I do think its a waste to spend money on a search engine
I honestly believe that it’s good to pay for services if you find them good. FOSS does need the money but unless you want to wait for the long term, it’s not viable as a user.
Its fustrating as a FOSS nerd to see so many people shill yet another subscription based service …
I’m quite interested in FOSS stuff but I get disappointed by so much FOSS stuff I now just use whatever feels the best to me
i have tried these alternate search engines and I have to always come back to google. A friend I trust a lot swears that kagi is the best search engine, and so do other people I know, so it must have some merit.
I don’t, I moved to Chrome after a year of using Firefox full time.
That’s really odd. I have been using it for like 3 years so far and I haven’t had many problems like those, and when I did they were intel/amd gpu driver bugs/crashes or kdenlive as I mentioned before.
For me Gnome on Wayland crashes when KDEnlive crashes and takes down the whole desktop.
not just that, the Just Perfection dev argued that they (extension devs) much rather have that instead of an API because the API wouldn’t be as flexible/free
EEVDF is the thing that is exciting about it.
what issues? I am considering either an Asus Zenbook or a Thinkpad or a Macbook and recently I’ve heard bad things about modern thinkpads.
they still do so
Many still use chrome
I don’t mind this at all, but it’s funny that I barely if ever get ads that would make me want to buy something. I don’t even use an adblocker on my android phone and i use chrome on me laptop

After using Firefox for nearly a year, I am using Google Chrome again and it feels much more snappier/fluid, and also uses less power compared to firefox (power draw is often near idle or outright idle), font rendering seems better on Chrome too. Only issue is that it doesn’t support hw video decoding (vaapi) on wayland, but I just use MPV for that. Firefox does support vaapi even on Wayland but it’s outrageously less efficient than mpv.
didn’t libya got turned into a slave trading nation, lol?
I use Linux full time since 2020, and have known it since 2013~, but I don’t ever recommend it to anyone. It’s full of papercuts.
It’s a very neat idea (I myself would get a mid range phone like that), but I wonder if they can actually do that… Has anyone ever asked them?
