You’re missing out. Lower Decks is easily one of the best trek shows if you like trek. Also they do a crossover episode with Strange New Worlds.

This is what i do. Star Trek playlist gets put on when i’ve got nothing else to watch. Random episodes of all trek is my happy place.
None of the guests suspected that she hadn’t made it from scratch
Bullshit. Did this author ever try a 1980s frozen lasagna? They absolutely could tell, they just didn’t want to offend her.

News@lemmy.world•‘Lord Of The Wings’ Food Truck Trademark In New Zealand Defeated By Tolkien Estate
882·2 years agoPer comments from Holmes himself, the idea for the name had nothing to do with Tolkien’s works, nor the movie. It was instead to denote royalty and lordship. I have seen nothing in any of the reporting to indicate that this had to do with anything other than the name of the food truck. The truck wasn’t going to be themed after the books or films. There wasn’t going to be any trade dress or vehicle wraps harkening back to those works of fiction. There wasn’t to be a flavor of chicken called “One wing to rule them all.”
So trademark holders being douchebags as usual. The Lord of the Rings isn’t associated with chicken wings in anyway so how could consumers be confused?

World News@lemmy.world•Russia announced it had deployed, to Ukraine, its best new artillery-detecting radar. Hours later, the Ukrainians blew it up—with artillery.English
54·2 years agoThat makes it even worse. Why didn’t they set up at night and throw up some camo netting? There are ways to lessen the chances your radar is blown up is all I’m saying. The ruzzians are morons exhibit #4,832.
Edit:
This was tucked away at the bottom of the article:
It’s possible the Ukrainians knew where to look for the Yastreb-AV because the truck-mounted phased-array radar emitted a distinctive signal—one Ukrainian intelligence may have had on file.
So they probably did radiate at the wrong time and paid for it.

412·2 years agoI was a counter battery radar operator. The systems I used 20 years ago had these neat things called electronic counter measures. I guess russia never got the message that it’s not a smart idea to radiate in a zone with anti-radiation missiles.

News@lemmy.world•Marine Corps veteran convicted of carrying tomahawk inside Capitol on Jan. 6
51·2 years agoThese idiots are lazy so it’s probably just because you’re cutting out ten pounds of ceramic and steel plates to carry. Also plates are bulky and weird if you’re not used to them so wearing a plate carrier without them is just easier and more comfortable.

51·2 years agoMan, people must really love you if you twist words like that. The comment was meant in the general sense not the specific argument we’re having about weapons. Im not responding past this because you obviously just want to argue. Good day.

News@lemmy.world•Appeals court allows California law to go into effect, restricting concealed carry in public places
41·2 years agoSorry by common sense i meant my military training common sense would lead me to shoot anyone with a gun if i were committing a crime with a gun.
Squid, we have different views, thats fine but im just trying to explain my point of view. You obviously have me confused with someone else as ive not argued for anything faith based at all. Im not a conservative and you assuming that is probably why youre thinking people are arguing in bad faith. When i said no one wants to do the research that includes the US govt. i gave no justifications as to why no one wants to do research.

41·2 years agoYou wont find that research because no one wants to do that research. Also how would you? It will always be anecdotal. I can only tell you my experience as a former soldier. I would shoot anyone who i saw with a weapon if i were committing a crime with a gun. It’s just common sense.

61·2 years agoYou’re more likely to be targeted first in an attack if you have a visible weapon. Similar to how bank robbers will shoot the guards first if the guards have guns. If you have your weapon concealed you may be able to shoot the attacker before he is aware you have a weapon.

World News@lemmy.world•Russia's egg crisis is spiraling out of controlEnglish

Any corundum without trace elements is colorless. Corundum with trace chemical impurities makes the gems we know. Chromium gives the red to rubies, sapphire has iron and titanium, you can get other colors using vanadium or different ratios. Gems are neat.
Types of corundum maybe but I think that’s a stretch. Sapphire is (usually) blue Al2O3. Ruby is red Al2O3. Transparent aluminum is Al2O27N5.
Scotty would be proud.
