Most of my life is pretty busy. When I have a moment where I have nothing to do, I try to enjoy it instead of wishing it away.

Having the time to do nothing is underappreciated.

When I was younger, we moved around a lot, and as side effect of that, we paid for a storage unit to hold less frequently used stuff. Around the time I started high school, we managed to buy a house, and moved everything from the storage unit into our home. In it there was a picnic basket that I had never seen before. I remember looking inside and finding a horrible smelling bag of “bread” which was actually a black liquid with lumps in it. There was also some individually wrapped cheese slices which visually speaking were indistinguishable from any I could buy in the store today.

I am certainly not one of the younger folks and had never seen that before. That is awesome, thank you for sharing.

Good news. After reading the article, it seems like the content and the course will still exist, it is just that Yale has decided that it cant afford to pay ULA’s to support the class.

A fun next lesson is the benefit of apparent wind. In addition to the wind relative to the water, you have added wind generated by the movement of the boat. Since the lift generated is related to the speed of the wind relative to the boat, the faster the boat goes, the more lift you get. As a result, it is possible to actually sail faster than the wind speed of the wind relative to the water.

I think we agree on most of the points here, and now we’re just getting defensive about tone, and details.

I was just trying to point out that nothing has a way it is supposed to be. There is what things are, and there is what we want. Yes you can use many of the features of our language to convince people of your opinion.

I myself don’t like the idea of personifying the planet then imbuing it with opinions so I made the comment I did.

Not even a little bit. I fully believe humans are causing climate change. It is going to make life as we know it on this planet completely different in the very near future.

I still think the planet itself doesn’t give a shit, and claiming there is a way it is “supposed to be” is pretty narrow minded.

For most of the earths existence it wouldn’t be possible for humans to exist. I don’t think it really gives a shit about a bridge we built.

What about phrasing it so the effort isn’t on you, but them?

“I’ve never really felt comfortable around [describe group]”. This way, the failure isn’t yours to get comfortable, but on them to mwake you comfortable.

I feel like we need some to follow this joke.

I try to never use “the finger” when another driver is being an ass. In that case I always just give them a thumbs down and a sad face.

I save the middle finger for people who are being “nice”, especially when it is making things dangerous. I find it is the quickest way get them to just go.

I try to be coniderate while driving. Being predictable is safe. Deviating from the rules is dangerous. I think being safe more considerate than being “nice”.

This isn’t what my understanding of how the system works, but the way you word it, you seem very confident that it is. I’m honestly curious what you read that lead you to this perspective.

I think it needs to be 5 or 8 so it’s a number from the Fibonacci scale.

It is also important that there is no possible way that a story point can meaningfuly represent time.
