What are the community’s thoughts on LEP lights? I don’t have one, but am sort of interested in getting one just to have something uniquely powerful. What’s out there, and what do people think about them? Stuff to avoid? Stuff to look at?

They seem interesting. I haven’t had the pleasure of playing with one, in large part because they seem more expensive than they’re worth. But if you’re some kind of lumophile sure it might be worth it… Blow that cash and let us know ;)

Looking at options as stated above :) If I’m going to get one, might as well go big. It’s strictly a toy for me despite using my other lights all the time.

Having a few LEPs now I can say that the smaller ones are my favorite and the most useful because the beam isn’t as coherent resulting in a larger, more usable hotspot. The Lumintop Thor 1 and 2 are really great pocket cannons and sold at a pretty fair price especially if you can snag a deal coupon. The bigger ones like the Weltool W4 are not as useful because the beam is too tight!

That said, the FW2 that @dartanjinn@lemm.ee recommended looks like a great option and its larger brother, the Mateminco FW3 with its dual flood/LEP beams is very handy and the beam is still not too tight because the LEP optic itself is fairly small.

Mateminco FW2 is $125 on Ali and is a good place to start. It’s not gonna knock anyone’s socks off but it’ll wet your palette for LEPs for sure.
