I like how they bring up the high profile instance of an accused cheater, spend most of the article explaining that someone hacked the camera in the Deckmate 2 by putting a usb stick in the unsecured port, and then slip in as an aside that the game in question used the Deckmate 1, which doesn’t have an internal camera or a usb port.

Why is there a camera inside the shuffling machine

    Nvm, it’s in the article:

They found that the Deckmate 2 also has an internal camera designed to ensure that every card is present in the deck, and that they could gain access to that camera to learn the entire order of the deck in real time, sending the results from their small hacking device via Bluetooth to a nearby phone, potentially held by a partner who then could then send coded signals to the cheating player.

The main question should be: Why is there an internal camera in a deck shuffler in the first place?

It’s described in the article and there’s also a comment quoting that portion from the article.

I mean, this was like, crappy house game level of a bad all in on Robbi’s part.

Its just more insane the number of times you rewatch the whole play. Nothing she’s saying makes sense.

For tournaments like this, do the players get to choose between machine-dealt and hand-dealt decks?
