We still have a ways to go with psychologist research, to be fair. My dad served two tours between 2003-2006 and only more recently came to understand PTSD isn’t something you just “get over.”
Same for sexism. It’s not easy for service members to get over that engrained idea of protecting women at the cost of the team. There’s a lot of promising research in resilience studies preparing military members prior to entering combat that I think could apply. As long as researchers and artists involved in VR type training are careful to include particular elements like more femme voices and such, it can be overcome before it’s an issue in active combat
And to be clear, I’m not familiar with the research veterans have cited to me that it is an issue to begin with. I’ve only really looked at PTSD and the use of VR for exposure therapy and CBT. I’m inclined to believe it would be an issue for at least some men. I’d like to look at Israel as a case study example when I get some time since they’ve had compulsory service for men and women for a while now
We are not attempting to “erase male victims.” I understand this is an extremely triggering topic as a victim myself. We are pointing out the difference in experiences that clearly exist. I am sorry you were harmed, both in the past and through my comment, but I ask that you take time to take care of yourself and think about the disparities between those numbers and experiences. No one should be victimized as you were, and certainly no one should go through what the women did in this trial. Can you understand the difference?
I did not say any of that.
Plus, when has a man ever been drugged and gang raped by only women? That’s what’s even more disturbing about this case.
I didn’t know it was a violation of labor law, though. Nice to know some protections still exist for us
Gotcha, thank you! I’m gonna start paying attention for it and see if I can figure it out
Wait can you explain more? I’ve never heard of that, feel like I’m asking for a dirty trade secret
How does it ever change? The 70+% of people that disagree show up to vote. I was raised by forced birthers and have been to family therapy with them to try to talk with a neutral third party. The therapist gave us all a blanket statement that we’ll never change each other’s minds. So, fine. My brother and I just have to cancel out their votes and get more people to tip the scales.
Every state that’s been able to vote on it has upheld protections for abortion. More are on the ballot for November. Check your state and be ready to show up.
Total tangent here, but I have a lot of cognitive dissonance around Butker. I mean I call him Butt Kicker. He’s an amazing athlete but has gross political ideas and power.
What’s dumber, I was upset to hear Brittany Mahomes passively endorsed Project 2025. I wasn’t terribly surprised that’s her stance, but seeing her confirm it and quickly backtrack with petty bullshit just. Ugh. Meanwhile, our other star players Kelce and Mahomes are keeping their mouths shut as Swift is taking heat. Idfk. Just a bunch of drama that makes me feel like I’m back in high school, but the stakes are much, much higher.
If you think my argument is missing something, by all means, it would be useful to say that rather than passive aggressive.
You do you. Data alone is pretty useless to me.
So there are tribes with both dynamics, maybe more one than the other?. We can also look at things like, say, competitive records between “sexes” (it’s a spectrum, so the binary divide is weird to begin with, but I digress). Men run on average like 30 seconds faster on the mile than women in societies with clear disadvantages to women’s training.
Is this actually significant enough to exclude women? I fail to see how it could be for a role that requires a multitude of skills.
Society’s seem to have stratified based on sex to “protect” women, and maybe a lot of women even prefer it. The issue is when we use some societal preferences to override the individual and prescribe roles before the individual can even develop their own preference (men and enbies included).
What I’m seeing are some societies seem to have figured that out well enough, others are more oppressive.
Hey man who doesn’t
Uh. Robotatertotcomics* isn’t it?
She mentioned them. Don’t you see how grossly incompetent she is to hold office for this!?
I was just trying to alleviate any confusion, cuz your second line made it sound like maybe you thought the rest of the calls weren’t even listened to. Muh bad
Read the article. The rest were obvious jokes, and the 5 they thought may be “plausible” didn’t result in a substantive complaint.
Are they arguing it wasn’t random though? I mean Shakespeare had to think through the plot and everything, not just scribble nonsense on a page
