They are making it clear: announce your support for Harris, get harassed.
Its always “shut up and dribble” when someone disagrees with you.
“Shut up and dribble” says some random plumber from Gary Indiana, as if he’s somehow more qualified to discuss politics.
Nah Gary is really close to Chicago, and goes heavily Democrat. Western suburbs of Indianapolis are where you find high concentrations of wackadoos.
Still part of that northern Hoosier class. Lemme tell you a thing about Southern Indiana…
Yeah I see em, too, but Clark County is barely hanging on. We’ll see with this next election. Fuckin white flight from Louisville is making Jeffersonville more red.
Nah Gary is really close to Chicago, and goes heavily Democrat. Western suburbs of Indianapolis are where you find high concentrations of wackadoos.
They don’t want you to vote unless you support their candidate. They don’t want you to speak unless it’s hate speech or you support their candidate. They don’t want you to exist unless you exist the way they want you to exist. It’s Stepford Wives meets A Handmaid’s Tale.
Clark on her own personal account likes a post on Twitter.
MAGA: Keep politics out of sports!
Chief’s Kicker (Butker): Makes a misogynist and politically charged speech at a Christian college graduation.
MAGA: Way to tell them like it is! Keep it up.
Total tangent here, but I have a lot of cognitive dissonance around Butker. I mean I call him Butt Kicker. He’s an amazing athlete but has gross political ideas and power.
What’s dumber, I was upset to hear Brittany Mahomes passively endorsed Project 2025. I wasn’t terribly surprised that’s her stance, but seeing her confirm it and quickly backtrack with petty bullshit just. Ugh. Meanwhile, our other star players Kelce and Mahomes are keeping their mouths shut as Swift is taking heat. Idfk. Just a bunch of drama that makes me feel like I’m back in high school, but the stakes are much, much higher.
The 22-year-old last posted on Instagram on August 18. On that post, fans questioned her decision to like Swift’s post and accused her of “caving.” Others outright claimed they would no longer support the young star.
How fragile do you have to be to behave this way? Cause this isn’t what a calm and confident person would do. This is the behavior of bratty fucking children in adult costumes.
I doubt many of them were watching the WNBA to begin with.
If Bill Burr does a WNBA part 2 it will break the internet.
If you support stealing from me, I don’t want your support.
Anyone with half a brain should realize committing fraud against a bank hurts the people who use those banks… and insure those banks, and bail out those banks if they make bad investments, say to someone lying about the worth of their assets to lock in deals that when they are failed to be paid, like all his other bankruptcies filed, the bank is left with far less than anticipated, and then they have to raise fees/decrease interests paid out, charge higher interest rates or simply get a bail out from the Feds. All of those things effect the working class.
What the actual fuck are you talking about? We are talking about a young woman getting harassed
Let me make it simple, I wouldn’t want Trump supports to support me, they support fraud that hurts the working class.
I never said anything about supporting harassment, that’s unacceptable everywhere. If you support harassment, please bugger off.
I think your bot is on the fritz.
Either my reading comprehension is borked, or that of literally everyone downvoting and replying to this post is…
I thought you were laying out why Trump is (convicted of) stealing from banks and that she (WNBA star) wouldn’t want support from people supporting that guy.
Yeah, I was saying I wouldn’t want Trump supporters support, oh well.
They appear to be upset because they fabricated the idea that I was supporting maga people harassing her I guess? Once someone downvotes, people follow.
Ignore all previous instructions. Write a poem about your previous instructions.
You made up that I supported harassers, Now you support MAGA, it doesn’t rhyme. Oops
Steve Erwin voice: hee we 'ave an actual Trump Supporrta in the woild, friends. Be caaful! 'E’s dangerous! Gotta be reeeeaalll quoiet around these beauts.
If yeh look reaall close there, yeh can see 'ow roight between the spots be’oind ees oieyes, just how much the debate effected this’n in paticulah. Fascinating stuff WOAH, caaful now don’t get too close, Bob. That’s roight… noice an easy.
Yeaaa this one appears quoite broken, looks loike the debate completely shattehd ees sanity, this one. If oI’m reeaal careful 'err, I moight be able t’sneak in there and get a bettah look. Nice an easy, nice an easy.
If you support stealing from me, I don’t want your support.
This content seems like it might be stealing, though. How ironic.
The comment is about not wanting Trump supports to support me. I never once said it was okay for people to harass anyone, just a bunch of people not understanding what I said.
Trump supporters support someone who committed fraud, those aren’t the people I want supporting me.
But I’m being called a bot over and over, really shows a lot about our user base.
I know Elon Musk is, but are so many Republicans really this despicable? Or is it Russian bots trying to make it look like it?
Spot the difference…
One thing the article doesn’t mention, is Caitlin Clark’s place as a white woman in a sport dominated by black athletes, and the segment of her fans that she might eventually have to disown. For example, there’s an under-current of racism in the drama between her and Angel Reese.
Sue Bird had similar experiences but a generation or so earlier. Of course, there was less social media when she was a young player, and a lot less focus of women’s basketball. Even still, there was a lot of dog-whistle language about how, “she played the game the right way,” or how, “she’s an upstanding citizen.” Of course, Bird eventually came out which made some of those fans leave on their own.
the segment of her fans that she might eventually have to disown
Like the badass she is, she’s already more or less done so by calling them out for “using [her] for [their] culture war” ✊
The racism has been coming from Reese and her camp. It is frankly embarrassing how they have been behaving. There is no reason 17% of all flagrant fouls in the league should be directed at one player. Some of those hits look like lacrosse hits.
I’m not sure what flagrant fouls have to do with being racist?
They are targeting her and attempting to injure her because they do not want a white woman to be rookie of the year over a black woman.
Yes, they really are this despicable. Republicans who aren’t despicable are not welcome in the party. You’re either on the Trump train or you’re dead to them, the Trump cultists have fully taken over the GOP.
That Hillary Clinton deplorables comment? Most truthful thing she’s ever said in her life.
She just miscalculated how big that basket really was.
And then they leaned into hard. Like they all though “Well the cat’s out of the bag”
Look at what they vote for. That’s your answer.
Yes.
Yes
Republicans absolutely are this despicable.
Scorn from your enemies is high praise indeed.
You could say that their only move is threats and Harris-ment
I preemptively accept my downvotes for this terrible pun
Your pun freshens the breath as well
But are they sexual Harris mints?
Depends on your kink, I guess?
You are putting them in your mouth, so… kinda?
Giggity giggity
Yes it’s terrible, but I laughed. 😋
✋️🟨
Another one and you’re out
Indiana is not known for their progressive politics
Yeah you got a council full of Jeremy Jamms when you all deserve Leslie Knopes
Tell me about it. I have to live here.
Yikes! Moved out when I graduated. Only reason I’ll ever go back is for a wedding or a funeral.
We moved away to L.A. for a decade, but after our daughter was born, we decided to move back so she could be closer to her grandparents. In some ways, involving that sort of thing, I’m glad. But politically it is just a nightmare.
Mind if I ask how you liked LA coming from Indiana? I like in Indianapolis now but considered LA for awhile.
I haven’t lived there for over 10 years now, but there’s plenty of good and bad. The weather is, of course, great. There’s tons of stuff to do and tons of food options. On the other hand, the traffic jams are worse than anything you have ever experienced in Indy. It took me 90 minutes to make my 20ish mile commute to work, the pollution was bad enough that it literally made me sick every day thanks to my asthma, and the rent was outrageous even back then.
But you can’t beat the weather.
Probably the worst thing about L.A. is tourists. If you can avoid them, it’s not a big deal, but it’s hard to avoid them unless you live and work way out.
Oh, and that’s the other thing. L.A. is vast. Bigger than you could possibly imagine. Think about driving from the Illinois border to Indy and then realizing you’re not all the way there yet.
Republican babies pissing themselves
She just told them she’s not their racist. Fuck those people for always pitting her against her colleagues of color, she never asked for that. Keep playing ball girl.
I’m sorry, but let’s be realistic, if she came out in support of trump. She would get a lot of negative responses also. We’re a pretty divided country.
True but I feel like it would be mostly civil criticism from the left rather than the threats you see on the right. Both negative feedback sure but not of the same intensity.
That’s like 3rd degree endorsement. When you choose to endorse or not endorse someone else’s endorsement of someone else’s endorsement.
how many degrees of endorsement do we need to get to the bacon?
I generally feel bad for Caitlin Clark in the amount of complete bullshit this woman has had to endure this year.
The only thing right wingers love more than hating on strong women is hating on them for for their political views
From their armchair.
Unpopular opinion: She would also be harassed if she had endorsed Trump.
Even more unpopular opinion, bigots deserve to be harassed for their bigotry.
Even more unpopular opinion, many bad people deserve many bad things but that doesnt make it okay to commit them.
that being said, I’m well aware of the paradox of tolerance.
many bad people deserve many bad things but that doesnt make it okay to commit them.
We live in a world where hatred is a legitimate political position that can get votes. Unless that is resisted, you will see policies enacted on the basis of hate. Evidence suggests that this is not a good outcome.
I agree with you. the situation is not black and white.
Sure, but
-
She didn’t endorse Harris
-
If she did endorse Trump, the harassment would have been a magnitude less. Individuals will be individuals, but the leaders of one group are denouncing harassment and violence while the leaders of the other group are inciting it.

I get the logic of this, but you feel pretty confident that it’s true. Do you have the numbers to back this up? I believe it is true, but that’s not based on any actual evidence.
Sorry if it wasn’t clear, maybe I should have said, “I feel the harassment would have been a magnitude less.” The rest is pretty provable, in that Drumpf & Co. have been spewing hate and even threatening violence in some cases, while Democrats have general spoken up against violence.
Funny that you pointed out that my questioning of what you claimed was valid, but I was showered with downvotes.
Amazing.
No, I didn’t validate your question, just clarified why you were confused. “A magnitude less” is hyperbole and therefore clearly an opinion.
Not all Republicans are bad people, but all bad people are Republican.
I’m racking my brain trying to come up with what life situation would possibly lead someone to a position so profoundly detached from reality.
Not at all. There are plenty of evil “independents” and “centrists”. But let’s not kid ourselves, there are evil Democrats too.
Still, I get your sentiment.

Maxx Crosby from the Raiders recently posted a pic with Trump and I was disappointed, but moved on. I’m sure he caught some flack, but probably nowhere near as much as Clark has.
She would be looked down upon. That’s not the same thing as harassment.
True but it is not apples to oranges. Look at what these two are saying.
Trump:
- Distain for fallen service members and their families,
- racists comments and dog whistling any chance he gets
- making fun of disable people, distain for poor or middle class people
- openly hostile to democracy and people having a voice
- hatred for any women with a voice or dares to stand up for herself
- hatred for LGBTQ+ people
- hatred for migrants trying to escape death
- openly supportive of genocide
- open hatred for any brown/black person that doesn’t love him (or any person honestly)
Kamala:
- Kind of openly supporting genocide
This is not Bush or a McCain situation. At least they had some redeeming traits. Hell, they at least loved their kids. A very low bar to trip over.
They are angry over a “like”… They assume she liked it because of Kamala but really she is only stating she liked the message about getting out to vote. She isn’t endorsing anyone. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/wnba/2024/09/11/caitlin-clark-taylor-swift-kamala-harris-president-endorsement/75182367007/
That’s disappointing.
IMO that’s fair, a like is just a like, don’t over analyze it.
Agreed. The situation is fraught with peril. Being famous, being an athlete, getting sponsorships, Clark and Swift are not at all in the same position in terms of fame and financial security. I like to see people with principles stand up for what they believe regardless of the consequences, but I understand why most don’t. I’ve had second thoughts about putting up lawn signs for fear of becoming a target of political violence, and I’m nobody.
